Germans arrived in Chicago and its surrounding areas in different migration waves. They moved on from there or made it their home. Their motivations varied widely. This talk will examine the push and pull factors that brought Germans to this area at different points in time. Some specific settlement areas will be discussed. Many rich resources are available to research Germans who spent time in Chicago. This talk will highlight the archives and records available for researching them.
